National Programme for Prevention and Control
of Deafness (NPPCD)
NPPCD was
launched with a purpose of early
identification, diagnosis and treatment of ear problems responsible for
hearing loss and deafness in them. This programme is being implemented by
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the technical support of Directorate
General of Health Services.

Distributed
laminated foam board to all Govt. Primary School and Middle School in entire
Islands.
World Hearing Day 2023
Under
NPPCD we are celebrating World Hearing Day for the last nine years. All the
three District hospitals, CHCs & PHCs will take active part in the
programme by conducting public meetings and orientation programme for the
health professionals on awareness of ear care & hygiene, noise pollution.
IEC materials are distributed to the public and school children. On this day an
audiological Evaluation was done for the STS workshop and Old Age Home and
Screening Camps were conducted at various health institution under S/A
districts.
